We are delighted that we have been shortlisted as one of 4 projects in the Leeds area to go to the public voting stage of the Lloyds Banking Community Fund 2014.
Nearly 600 Lloyds Banking Group colleagues worked together in selection panels to review 4,500 applications and decide the final four organisations short-listed in each of the 352 communities. The standard was apparently very high this year and we are very pleased to have made the short-list.
Voting will take place from 2nd September to 10th October and every organisation on the short-list will get an award with the number of votes cast in each community deciding how the awards will be allocated. The organisation with the most votes in a community will receive £3,000, second highest votes £2,000, third highest votes £1,000 and fourth highest votes £500.
We will be keeping you posted on how to vote and will be asking you to share widely with friends… if we were awarded the £3000 this would pay for all our Speech and Language groups for the next 12 months!!
There are so many amazing people connected to Sunshine and Smiles and there are always lots of thank you’s to say….
To Andy Earl who completed the Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge in under 10 hours and raised funds for three fantastic charities … one of which was Sunshine and Smiles…. thank you Andy! What an amazing achievement and your donation of £250.00 is very much appreciated!
To Stuart Williamson who had a Dress Down Day at work… thank you for your kind donations… and if anyone else has fundraising ideas and wants to do something at their work or a sponsored event… please do get in touch… we have sponsor forms, you can set up your own Local Giving Fundraising Page and we’ve got stickers too!!
And finally to Class 8JRW at Ilkey Grammar School.. they have been in touch this month to say they will be doing lots of awareness and fund raising activities at school to support Sunshine and Smiles… and we will keep you posted with what they got up to!
A massive thank you to everyone who came to Lyall’s birthday party with a difference and contributed to his fundraising. We have raised £1500 to buy Makaton resources for the Leeds General Infirmary which will hopefully benefit many of the children who use Sunshine and Smiles. Singing Hands have given us loads of advice based on the work they have done at Great Ormond Street and over the summer we hope to start preliminary discussions with the hospital as to how to take this forward.
On 17th June five fantastic volunteers from Lloyds Banking Group came to help us give our garden at Stainbeck Community Hall a ‘make-over’ … along with a few of the committee members and their parents we had a really successful day and now have a sandpit, play space for a slide and see-saw and picnic benches…
It is still very much a work in progress… there is lots to do at the front of the hall… weeding and bark to be laid, a mud kitchen to make… and lots more 🙂
But I’m sure you will agree the before and after pictures tell a great story…. thank you Sarah, Eve, Jody, Laura and Janice!!.
If anyone would like to volunteer a couple of hours to help with the garden please drop us an email… we’d love to hear from you!
